Some Want Conservation Easement Battle Lines Redrawn

The IRS’s campaign against syndicated conservation easements is expected to ramp up in 2020, but some hope that the government will fine-tune its enforcement approach.

Practitioners who spoke with Tax Notes said that while they understand the government’s concerns over abuse of the charitable contribution rules, they think affected parties should reset the debate in the coming year so that resources are more focused on actual abuse.
